Sunday trip to Barney Schwartz park

Since today was the last (boohoo) day of our holiday vacation (back to reality tomorrow!), after Cam woke up from his afternoon nap, we took him over to Barney Schwartz park to play for a while. Its been a while since we'd been over there - 3-4 months! It was a bit chillier than we'd realized temperature-wise but that didn't slow Cam down at all; the last time we were here he needed to hold our fingers to walk - this time he ran around under his own steam!

Daddy showed Cam how to "climb" up on some of the stuff at the park (hmmm, that might not have been so good in retrospect!) and they both had a great time sliding down the slide. Cam did it over and over, even got brave enough to do it on his own :) There is a tube that kids can crawl through - last time we were here Cam could stand up in there with lots of room to spare. He tried to stand up in there and bonked his head! Little dude is getting tall.

We had a lot of fun, got a bunch of great photos (little dude still seems to grow and change every day) even bumped into one of our neighbours' with her two children. Maybe all this fresh air will help Cam sleep better tonight (never too early for a Christmas miracle!! Only 352 days, right? ;) )

We're a bit late with this but Happy New Year to all our family, friends and loved ones!
Love,
Cameron, Michelle and Kevin

Photogenic Tuesday!

We had Cam home with us this afternoon and got some photos out in the yard in the afternoon. The light was great and Cam's attitude about it all...well, let's just say there was a range :) Exhibit A - see the final photo!

In the first photo, here is a lovely picture of Cam eating rocks. Fun, huh? Don't worry, we got it out before he swallowed it - mostly he wanted to see our reaction (tried to be neutral but there was lunging involved to remove aforementioned rock).

In our next photo, we *finally* have a photo of mommy and Cam. I got to have a shower in the morning and didn't look like a vagabond, which was a nice change. Cam, however, could care less - he wanted to chew on more rocks.

Here we have our obligitory "gorgeous baby" shot. Note that mommy is nowhere to be found while Cam is smiling.

Our last photo is of Cam after he's been told its time to go inside because its getting cold, and its snack time. He was less than thrilled, to say the least. All of this in about 30 minutes :) Cam survived going inside to have his snack and warm up! Ah, the trials of being 15 months old, lol!

Off to school - see ya!

"I'm off to daycare - bye! Did you remember my coffee thermos?" :)

Doesn't Cam look like he's got a briefcase (its his lunchbag) and is on his way to work? He's all "business casual", so he'll be in a creative field like mom ;)

Blue Eyes

Daddy got this great shot of Cam with our new camera - so hard to believe he's so grown up already. Its only been barely a year and Cam is definitely a little man :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Well, the poor kid probably had a wedgie, but we managed to get his hood up over his head to complete the "giraffe" look (never did get out to get a bigger costume). Thank gosh because it was cold outside today!! Our first significant rain in months, lol, but it stopped in the afternoon, much to the relief of a LOT of kids around here :)

We did take Cam out to a few houses of people that we know in the neighbourhood for his first Trick-or-Treating - Cam was just happy to be outside in his stroller after being cooped up inside all day. He also helped mommy give out candy to all the kids - loved hearing the doorbell ringing and running up to see who was there, plus dropping candy into bags, pumpkins and pillowcases. We turned off our light somewhat early (7:15pm) but we still had at least 50-60 kids come by before then. Popular neighbourhood but NOTHING like what Charles, Sarah and the boys have in Willow Glen.

Hopefully next year Cam will have more fun walking around the neighbourhood, but I've already decided that after 2 days w/the candy, we're going to have a "Halloween Fairy" come by to exchange the candy for a present - Cam wasn't too interested eating in the candy...yet! Want to put that off as long as possible :)

Cam and the puffs

Everyone once in a while, when Cam gets home from daycare, he's ravenous. Today was one of those days. He sat in daddy's lap and proceeded to eat *a lot* of puffs (ugh - not organic). He had a blast, though. Totally figured out how to get the top off, put his hand into the container and pull out a bunch of puffs that he would then stuff into his mouth and finally closing the container. And then doing it all over again :)

Mello weekend

We had a pretty quiet weekend over here. Cam is still not sleeping well since we got back from Willow Glen (and also stopped the antibiotics, so the concern is that the ear infection is back), so we're all a bit zombie-like.

On Saturday afternoon we did head down to SLO to visit with Auntie Tishy (my former colleague from the Bay area) and her husband Scott in their beautifully renovated Craftsman near Cal Poly. Its a gorgeous property and they did everything so right; the main bathroom is truly to die for (they did this cool alcove into the wall so that the towels hang flush with the wall, it so simple but beautiful!).

They are also big baby people and after Cam did his "judging" thing, he totally warmed up to them both and had a great time. He especially loved being able to crawl in a circle (going through the kitchen, small bath, Tishy's office, then end up in the kitchen again), which he did over and over. For some reason, Cam also seemed to fall in love with Scott's boots. He did really well with their dogs too, although he was a bit unsure at first. It was a super visit and hopefully we'll have them up here in toasty Paso soon.

One very BIG deal that happened at Auntie Tishy's - Cam took his first solo steps! He was doing the finger-walking with daddy (you all know that one; grownup is bent over and Junior holds onto two of your fingers to steady himself while walking) and Tishy crouched down about a foot away and encouraged him to come to her. He did let go of Daddy's fingers and after a bit of uncertainty, he took two steps to reach her :) It was so cool! And WAY too soon to encourage again, although Kevin now holds out hope Cam will really walk for his 40th birthday (just less than two weeks, folks!!). We'll see - he's barely 10 months old and that seems way too young to be walking (for mommy, at least. Yeesh, my baby is barely a baby any more)

Sunday was chore day and we got as much done as possible. The list is still long but we got quite a dent in there; lots of laundry, dog baths, garage cleaning out, vacuuming and floor dusting got done. Sadly there is still much to do, but the good thing about being sleep-deprived is that you really do care less than you did aprés baby :)

No really good photos to post right now, but my girlfriend Sarah did give me some advice on a better camera to get so I can capture Cam's moments a bit faster than the one we currently have. I've been purusing Craigslist and eBay for a bargin; hope to find one soon!

ps
the girls at daycare keeping giving Cam a "faux-hawk" during the day; we've got to get a photo of it up as its pretty funny

This is the face of a double ear infection :)

Its not so bad, huh? He *just* woke up from a 2.75 hr nap, THAT never happens at daycare! A good side effect from spending the day at home. We're off to get his antibiotics - go DRUGS THAT KILL EAR INFECTIONS!!
