Merry Christmas!

First thing this morning, we got to do a video chat with Grammie and Grampie on the east coast - so much fun!

After our video chat, and some breakfast, Cam got in on the fun to open presents :) Santa and all of Cam's grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends were super generous, so we've decided to spread out his presents over 4-5 days so that he could enjoy a couple of gifts at a time instead of going into overload with all the new things.

We'd gotten this huge box in the mail and it had been a wonderful block on the fireplace to keep Cam from climbing up. Once opened, Cam found a great scooter that he's been enjoying pushing around the house and trying to dance to the music on it. We've really got to get his dance moves on video!

Thank you so much to everyone for their wonderful gifts - Cam loves everything and we love that he's starting to play for a bit on his own :) Merry Christmas!!

ps
here is a bit of video of Cam playing with his new musical scooter - he's figuring out how to ride it but has fun pushing it too...

Photogenic Tuesday!

We had Cam home with us this afternoon and got some photos out in the yard in the afternoon. The light was great and Cam's attitude about it all...well, let's just say there was a range :) Exhibit A - see the final photo!

In the first photo, here is a lovely picture of Cam eating rocks. Fun, huh? Don't worry, we got it out before he swallowed it - mostly he wanted to see our reaction (tried to be neutral but there was lunging involved to remove aforementioned rock).

In our next photo, we *finally* have a photo of mommy and Cam. I got to have a shower in the morning and didn't look like a vagabond, which was a nice change. Cam, however, could care less - he wanted to chew on more rocks.

Here we have our obligitory "gorgeous baby" shot. Note that mommy is nowhere to be found while Cam is smiling.

Our last photo is of Cam after he's been told its time to go inside because its getting cold, and its snack time. He was less than thrilled, to say the least. All of this in about 30 minutes :) Cam survived going inside to have his snack and warm up! Ah, the trials of being 15 months old, lol!

Cam laughing away as he smacks himself with a block while mommy says "Ow" for him in the background. We're pretty sure he'll outgrown this phase :)

Cam's first haircut

Not sure why we decided to do this today, but after Cam woke up from his nap looking like Bozo the Clown yet again, we took Cam down to a kid's salon here in Paso for his first haircut.

We weren't sure what to expect from Cam (he's not liking anyone fooling around his ears lately, go figure) but he did GREAT with the haircut. It helped that there were murals and lots of Elmo toys to entertain him.

The first cut did choke me up - that woman cut off my baby's curls! But the hairdresser very nicely saved some of his hair for me with a cute commemorative card. And Cam looks like a little kid now - no more baby boy :( Kevin thinks he looks like a Marine w/the super short hair - next time we'll have to go w/longer clippers!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my first Mother's Day as a mom - I didn't count it last year when Cam was still baking :) It was a GREAT day; full of surprises (a lovely necklace with two hearts that has my and Cam's birthstones intertwined from K: love you, sweetie!) and firsts, like Cam figuring out how to crawl forward, which was amazing to behold. Of course, once Cam figured that out, the dogs were his first targets :) See video below.

To all the moms' we know and love, and to all the other moms' out in the world - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Fun Saturday!

We had a great day today; the weather was gorgeous, everyone got some sleep last night and all was well in the world. So we cracked out the swimming pool Kevin got Cam for Christmas and Cam looooooooooved it :) We'll try to upload some video tomorrow of Cam splashing around.

Daddy also got a super cute photo of Cam with mommy. Still think he's the most adorable kid ever! :)

Someone is feeling better!

After the longest week in our lives (so far), Cam-a-lam-a-ding-dong is on the road to recovery. This is Cam yelling at the dogs to pay attention to him OR he's yelling at daddy to give him the camera that he really really wants to stick in his mouth :)

We've been enjoying the beautiful spring-like weather here, although we're ready for some cooler weather and a bit more rain. Cam is cutting at least one other tooth - they sure take a long time to look like teeth and not little razors, which is what they feel like on our knuckles, which Cam is taking particular joy in gnawing on these days.

Knitting project: 2nd try

Well, we're getting closer :) This hat fits my head, and if rolled up in half, it fits Cam. I only just realized that a 5mm needle is not the same as a size 5 needle. Now in the midst of Hat #3! Photos soon...

The first November post!

Today Cam is 8 weeks old (already, holy cow!) and unofficially 16lbs (we weighed him here at home with our scale). We have a pediatrician appointment on Thursday, so we'll share the "real" weight then! He's sleeping more and more at night (hooray!) and lots of fun during the day; cooing, smiling, laughing and, occasionally, yelling loudly to let us know he has a wet diaper or is ready for a nap. His personality is definitely starting to show; he's just as stubborn as mom and dad!

We took a trip up to San Jose yesterday to see Auntie Sherry and also for Cam to meet Leah. He did great in the car; only got upset just outside of San Jose b/c it turned out he had a blowout. Otherwise, the trip went well. We didn't get any photos of Cam with Leah b/c it was almost dark, but we'll go up again soon. Leah was definitely interested in sniffing both Cam and Kevin; I'm sure she recognizes that Cam belongs to us :) (not because we had treats).

BTW - I think the sheepskin cover we got for Cam's carseat was a good purchase; even though it got into the low-mid 80s yesterday, he didn't overheat in the carseat like he usually does.

Here is a link to Ba-Ba Seatskins in case anyone else has this problem too. The man that owns this company is super nice; he got our cover to us while in the midst of all the fires down in Southern CA! The cover was a bit expensive but totally worth it since Cam is now comfortable and not drenched in sweat every time we take him out in the car. I think shipping was free too and in CA, we got it the next day.
