Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Well, the poor kid probably had a wedgie, but we managed to get his hood up over his head to complete the "giraffe" look (never did get out to get a bigger costume). Thank gosh because it was cold outside today!! Our first significant rain in months, lol, but it stopped in the afternoon, much to the relief of a LOT of kids around here :)

We did take Cam out to a few houses of people that we know in the neighbourhood for his first Trick-or-Treating - Cam was just happy to be outside in his stroller after being cooped up inside all day. He also helped mommy give out candy to all the kids - loved hearing the doorbell ringing and running up to see who was there, plus dropping candy into bags, pumpkins and pillowcases. We turned off our light somewhat early (7:15pm) but we still had at least 50-60 kids come by before then. Popular neighbourhood but NOTHING like what Charles, Sarah and the boys have in Willow Glen.

Hopefully next year Cam will have more fun walking around the neighbourhood, but I've already decided that after 2 days w/the candy, we're going to have a "Halloween Fairy" come by to exchange the candy for a present - Cam wasn't too interested eating in the candy...yet! Want to put that off as long as possible :)

Wheeeeee!

Cam is learning how to run/trot and loves to run around the house just making noise and reveling in his ability to do so. He's easily distracted though :)

ps
Aren't his jammies cute? They are a *bear* to get on and off, however, but the adorableness of them wins out time and time again...

All's well on the ear front

Cam had his surgery this morning and did great :) He handled going off with the operating room nurse better than mommy and daddy (mommy couldn't watch), and did well until the anesthesiologist tried to put on the gas mask - luckily Cam liked the surgeon, who held him while they put the mask up to his face (not over at first) to get him to sleep. It really was a quick surgery, and Cam came out of the anesthesia like most kids - Dr. Mulotte likens it to an angry hornet. So true!

After about a half hour we were able to leave the surgery center and Cam was asleep in the car within a few minutes. We're home, C's had a bit to eat and will probably go down for his lunch nap a bit early today - he's pretty much himself, just a bit tired. The infection risk is only for the next 48 hours, so we'll keep a close eye on him.
So far, so good!

Cam's first haircut

Not sure why we decided to do this today, but after Cam woke up from his nap looking like Bozo the Clown yet again, we took Cam down to a kid's salon here in Paso for his first haircut.

We weren't sure what to expect from Cam (he's not liking anyone fooling around his ears lately, go figure) but he did GREAT with the haircut. It helped that there were murals and lots of Elmo toys to entertain him.

The first cut did choke me up - that woman cut off my baby's curls! But the hairdresser very nicely saved some of his hair for me with a cute commemorative card. And Cam looks like a little kid now - no more baby boy :( Kevin thinks he looks like a Marine w/the super short hair - next time we'll have to go w/longer clippers!

Standing tall

Cam was watching daddy mow the lawn in the backyard when I snapped this quick pic. This was right before his meltdown b/c he wanted daddy RIGHT THEN.

It's only happening for a split second, but Cam has stood totally on his own several times now. When I went back to check on him during his lunchtime nap on Sunday, I walked into his room and saw him standing very sleepily in the corner of his crib. I was stunned! Cam went back to sleep, but when I told K he didn't believe me - until he saw Cam do it later on that afternoon :) As soon as he does it a bit longer, we'll get a photo of it.

We had a good (albeit extremely freaking insanely hot) weekend here in Paso. We stuck pretty close to home and AC as the temps on Friday/Saturday were 110°. Sunday was better, high 90s. Today so far its been in th lovely mid-70s but that will change soon - high today mid 90s. Cam got to play in his pool this weekend (after trying watermelon again - he wants to eat what we eat, but isn't too sure about it) and we did manage to get the dogs a bath. Pretty mellow weekend overall.

Starting to get excited about our trip up to the Bay area next week to house/dogsit for Mike and Sherry - looking forward to seeing our friends up there and for Cam to meet lots of new friends too :)

Watermelon!

Cam tried watermelon today for the first time. He loved it whole and spent a good five minutes smacking it like a bongo. Wasn't quite as thrilled once a piece was cut for him, although he did take a few tiny bites. We'll try again tomorrow!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my first Mother's Day as a mom - I didn't count it last year when Cam was still baking :) It was a GREAT day; full of surprises (a lovely necklace with two hearts that has my and Cam's birthstones intertwined from K: love you, sweetie!) and firsts, like Cam figuring out how to crawl forward, which was amazing to behold. Of course, once Cam figured that out, the dogs were his first targets :) See video below.

To all the moms' we know and love, and to all the other moms' out in the world - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Cousin Isley and Auntie Trina come to visit!

Cam's Auntie Trina and cousin Isley came to visit this weekend from Vermont - we're so excited they made the trip! Cam immediately fell in love with Isley (and she with him) and the two of them spent the next 3 days making faces at each other. Isley totally cracked Cam up, it was a wonder to behold.

He also loved grabbing their noses and lips (a new thing), doing so at every opportunity. :) Luckily they were game for it and he didn't pull too hard!
