Oh, the things Cam can get into now!

After lunch today, K was cleaning up in the kitchen while Cam was playing in the family room. K put a few things in the fridge, and heard Cam complaining. When K turned around, he found Cam had crawled into one of the drawers on the entertainment center but couldn't figure out how to get back out!

After he was done laughing (and snapping a few photos), K helped Cam out :)

We loooooove our new camera :)

Thanks again to Sarah for the recommendation on the Nikon D40 - we picked it up today and are just amazed at the higher quality of picture that we are now taking!! We will need to invest in the bigger lens (55-200 VR) but we'll wait a little bit to do it.

So far, the camera has been super easy to figure out and work with - I'm mostly excited about the "consecutive picture" function - 3.5 pic/second!! No more missed smiles!! Of course, I don't have any to show today but I can finally share just how gorgeously blue Cam's eyes are :) And how his hair is totally sticking up in the back, lol. Enjoy!

Happy Holiday Weekend!!

We're getting a new camera this weekend (thanks for the rec Sarah!!) and can't wait to try it out; there will be new photos tomorrow.

Cam's cold still isn't totally gone, and his cough got worse, so we went to the doc today and unfortunately he's got another ear infection :( We've got a call into the ENT doc to see when we can get the tubes in. For the time being, Dr. Nave has put Cam back on antibiotics. We're both glad we found out about this before the long holiday weekend but we're both really bummed that its another ear infection.

Cam is napping now, so our goal this weekend is to help him get lots of sleep, lots of food and lots of love, and wait to hear from Dr. Mulotte about a surgery date.

In the immortal words of Jack Sawyer (and Steven King) "All will be well."

Buy stock in Kleenex

We've had a pretty quiet weekend over here; Cam is still in the throes of a yucky summer cold. When he got home from daycare on Thursday his nose was running like the Hoover Dam; that night he debuted a racking cough to go with the congestion :( I should ask our friends over the pond (Moray, Ruth and Calum) just how they taught their son to blow his nose at 8 months; Cam hates seeing a tissue coming at him!

Thursday and Friday nights he was up every 45mins - 1hr coughing, but it subsided a bit last night, and he slept from basically 7pm to 4am. K managed to get him back to sleep but he was up for good at 5:45am. He's been playing just fine during the day (and practicing walking a bit more, as you can see in the video), so except for the super runny nose and cough, he's in good spirits. We are just hoping this doesn't turn into another ear infection (since that means he'll be getting tubes), and are about to start trying a few drops of garlic oil in his ears based on some research we've been doing on homeopathic remedies. Can't hurt!

This cold did cause us to miss James' birthday party (Grant's big brother), which we're bummed about. We figured they wouldn't want our germs :) Can't say we'd blame them!! (Sarah, I'll drop off his gift this week). Hope everyone had a great weekend and it wasn't 104° in your neck of the woods!!

Sorry for the lack of posts

Life has gotten in the way of blogging the last week or so! But we're slowly getting caught back up (although never on laundry, it seems). Everyone is healthy again (K and I got food poisoning the day after Cam got the stomach flu). Cam is sleeping better at night now that he's getting more and more mobile.

Walking is two steps forward and one back - some days he's more confident about walking on his own than others. His level of tiredness definitely plays into it!! We think that he'll be walking more on his own by the time of his First Birthday party on September 6 :)

Cam's getting better with the walker but he still needs practice steering it :)

Cam and Daddy chillin'

Cam and daddy hung out and watched a little "Elmo's Adventures in Grouchland" before Cam's nap today. With George, of course :)

Auntie Sherry visited!!

Auntie Sherry had a day off from her crazy consulting schedule and she came down to Paso to visit us! Cam loooooooved having a new person to play with and "walk" him around :) Buster-dog also came down; Chance was thrilled to have someone to play with, although their game seemed to be who could mark more plants, etc. in the yard. At least they didn't pee on any of our legs :)

It was a very quick visit but so nice to see them both!!

A Boy and his Giraffe :)

Cam will semi-wake up at night because he can't find George in his immediate vicinity. I have no idea how George ended up across his bottom tonight!!

Big smiles

Cam's stomach flu was slow in going away, but he's on the mend. It was 5 days before he could keep anything other than bread and formula down! But he never gets tired of "walking" around the house...as long as he has some fingers to hold on to :)

Stomach flu

Happy Friday, folks. Cam has been down for the count since about 2pm yesterday with a bout of what we *think* is stomach flu (at least one other kid from daycare, possible three, went home sick the day before - no one told us!). Poor kid was barfing and dry heaving until about 6:30pm, then finally fell asleep for a few hours. We spent from 10pm to 1am trying to get (and keep!) some Pedialyte in him, starting with a teaspoon every 5 mins and working our way up to 2 oz every 15 mins. Cam was thirsty and hungry at 10pm - the teaspoon was NOT working for him.

Around 12:30am he started to act like himself. He slept from 1am - 7am, although we checked on him every couple of hours to make sure he was ok. So far today, he's in good spirits, although very tired. He's been getting a little formula, banana and bagels, and will go down for his lunch nap shortly. Doc say there could be some diarrhea next, so we're keeping an eye out - that will probably be hard to miss!

All I will say is freakin' daycare....

And we're off!

Cam has been cruising along the couch for a while, and has loved to walk holding onto our fingers (thanks for teaching him that, Uncle Pat!) but today....today all the pieces for actually walking fell into place. Enjoy!

ps
seriously - we need childproofing tips! What's worth worrying about and what's good to just let be. Please share!!!

Cam found the doggie door ;)

Not so little guy

Cam has been practicing standing and has figured how to look out the windows if he stands in his tippy toes. While its pretty cute, I'm ok if it takes him a little longer to totally figure out walking :)

Where's Camdo?

We put an orange shirt on him to make sure he didn't totally blend into the background!

Carla, my very dear horsie friend (who will be teaching Cam to ride in about a year), and her S.O. (significant other) Richie were on vacation in late July, driving from San Jose to Clatskanie, OR to visit Carla's family. Along the way they stopped at a hunting shop and Richie was determined to find some "cammies for Cam".

At first Carla thought he was talking about her great-nephew Campbell, who is about a year older than our Cam, but Richie was on a mission for "Michelle's Cam". So he looked high and low for something that wouldn't be too small for our guy and he did amazingly - the hat fits perfectly and 2T bibs are a little bit long on Cam, but something tells me that by Christmas, they will fit perfectly :) Thank you, Carla and Richie!!

ps
the title was meant to be a play on "Where's Waldo?", not Rambo!
