Sickee sickee sickee

No idea where this came from but Cam woke up at 4am super hot. He tossed and turned for a couple of hours and was up for good at 6am, still hot, so we gave him Tylenol and kept him home with us today. He's been in a good mood, still running a bit warm but overall his typical self.

He and daddy were watching "Its a Big Big World" (we're PBS freaks here, except for our beloved Bunnytown) when Cam actually fell asleep on the couch! He hasn't done this since he was a couple of months old! We let him snooze about 15-20 mins, then tried to wake him up. He was having none of that, so we moved him back to his crib and he's still sleeping. Gave him another does of Tylenol as he was really warm again. His little body is fighting something today. If he's still feverish when he wakes up, we'll call the doc.

That's it, although it has been raining pretty good on and off - about time! More soon...

15 months today!

Cam is 15 months old today - hard to believe! Well, actually not; in the few months since his birthday he's become a very active little boy :)

I've been lax on updates but here is a super quick rundown.

Cam got broncitis but was better by Thanksgiving. Then I got broncitis and lost my voice for more than a week (both K and Cam enjoyed that!). Thanksgiving was great! So nice to have 4 days off :) Holiday shopping is 95% done - phew! Cam is continuing to adjust to the new room at daycare but doing very well overall. Its dark at 5:30pm these days, so he doesn't get to play outside with the dogs as much as he used to but makes up for it on the weekends. We have a fun weekend coming up; K will be in Irvine for his company's holiday party, coming home on Saturday and we'll get our Christmas tree. Then on Sunday we're headed up to the Bay area to visit friends. Hope it doesn't rain so the kids can play outside!! Cam still isn't sleeping through the night but getting closer!

That's the short story - its not very interesting, hence the lack of posts recently. K shot this video this past weekend of Cam on the doggie bed - he's taken over one of Charlie's old beds that just got a new cover put on it...loves jumping on it!

Quick update

Very sorry for the lack of posts: we've had a little rough spot sleeping-wise over here and I'm behind in life in general. Got some great new photos and video; I'll get to it over this holiday weekend :)

Cam has been waking up earlier and earlier the last week or so; since last Thursday he's been waking up at 4am and not going back to sleep. Made daycare tough last week b/c they are migrating him to a new room with older kids and a very set routine - no morning nap and everyone goes down for naps from 12:30 until whenever they wake up. Cam waking up at 4am has made it very hard for him to get to 12:30 and take a decent nap.

On top of that he's had some nasal congestion and a little cough for the last couple of weeks. After this past weekend, I decided to bring Cam to the docter b/c I was sure he had an ear infection (yes, I know he has tubes but all his rolling around and messed up sleeping reminded me so much of them!). Luckily I was wrong, but the doctor did diagnose him with a bronchial/sinus infection and he's on antibiotics for the next 5 days. Hopefully this will help the little guy feel better and sleep more comfortably. Fingers crossed!!

Cam got weighed at the doc's office and tipped the scales at 29.5lbs. No height measurement, but K and I unofficially put a tap measure to him over the weekend and he was 32.5" tall. Photos/videos soon!!

Crazy non-sleeping kick

Cam is going through a weird phase where he's not sleeping at daycare...on Tuesday, he slept for 35 mins for the 8 hours he was there. To say he was a wreck when he got home just before 5pm is an understatment, however, it took about 3 minutes to get him down for a nap. He slept for about an hour, then went to bed around 8:30pm, way later than his usual 7pm.

Yesterday we had him take a nap at home in the morning since he woke up at 5:30am - here he slept from 8:15am to 10am. Thank gosh b/c he slept about 45 mins at daycare. Today we sent him over a little earlier than usual and the plan is to pick him up earlier than usual - we don't want him to start thinking he never has to sleep at daycare. Since he was up from 12:30am - 3am this morning, we're hoping he'll sleep a bit over there. We'll see!

Morning snooze

The boys were up *early* this morning, and when I woke up (K had turned off the alarm and closed the door to the bedroom to let me sleep in, what a doll!) at 8:15am, the house was super quiet. I found them on the sofa in the family room. Too cute for words!

Nightime tummy sleeping...

I'm wondering if any other mommy's out there have issues w/nighttime tummy sleeping and leaky diapers. Cam loves to sleep on his tummy now but we invariably end up with a baby woken up b/c he's soaking wet from his diaper leaking through. Any sugguestions? I'm thinking of trying Huggies Overnights, although we are typically Pampers folks, the Cruisers aren't doin' their job!

We're still alive over here!

Sorry for the lack of posting; Cam is still waking up for 1.5-2 hrs every night (random times anywhere from 12:30am to 5:30am) and we're all kinda tired.

After we had a pretty rough weekend on the sleep front, on Monday morning I went to tuck his hair behind his ear and he went BONKERS crying. Took me 5 full mins to calm the poor kid down. Went to the Doc that A.M. and are back on antibiotics - another double ear infection. Not that we're thrilled about that BUT the good news is that 1) no Amoxicillin - Doc didn't think it was the right time to test our theory that Cam is allergic, and 2) the dosage is half the strength that the last bottle was, meaning the infection isn't as severe, we caught it early.

He's been on the antibiotics for about 3 days now, and is in much better spirits, although his appetite isn't quite normal yet; down to about 4-6oz solid food for lunch and dinner (this past weekend he was averaging 10-13oz for lunch and dinner). He's back to his typical self; crawling everywhere, in love with the dog's water dish and power cords (sigh) and blowing raspberries on any bare skin he can find: me, K, himself - any port in a storm! With the long weekend coming, we'll have plenty of opportunity to rest, get some new photos and video and maybe even go to a BBQ! Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!!

Guess what we found this morning...

Checked on Cam at 2am b/c he was so quiet. I'm so used to him waking up then! This is how I found him. Not how he started, of course. Usually him rolling onto his belly wakes him up and his protests wake me up, but last night he must have liked it and snoozed through it.

Big news: Auntie Trina and cousin Isley are coming to visit next weekend for a couple of days. Its a quick trip but we're all looking forward to it! Cam will finally get to meet his other cousin :)

7 to 7

Cam was pretty tired last night; he hadn't slept much at daycare, and went down pretty easily just before 7pm. We tried to wake him up for a bottle just after 10pm, but he was having none of it; the kid was O-U-T, out. So we let him sleep.

I seem to wake up periodically to check the video monitor, and around 3am, I could only see a lump on there, so I went in to check. Usually I leave the light off, just tuck in blankets and feel his head to make sure he wasn't too warm (from the ear infection). Well, I couldn't find his head! I got the camera and saw the munchkin had totally pulled the covers over his head and was snoring away (muffled by said covers). After a minor freakout (suffocation!!!), I pulled the covers back, and Cam kept on snoring away, not waking up until 6:45am. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :) We know its b/c he's sick, but we still enjoyed the quiet night.

Interesting night....

Last night Cam woke briefly about 3am, yelling a bit, and I pulled the covers back over his little hands, which had gotten cold, and he went right back to sleep. Didn't stir a muscle until 7am! Tonight he fell asleep around 7:30pm, Kevin had to work hard to wake him up to take his 10pm bottle, then he fell right back to sleep and is already back to beddy-bye :) Fingers crossed he's out until 7am again - this is a niiiiiiiiice pattern!!

Happy Weekend!

Hello folks :) Happy weekend to everyone! Cam is almost recovered from his cold (as are his parents!) and doing better and better at daycare. He really likes one of the gals inparticular and will actually EAT for her, which is a huge step forward. The daycare has been super about working with us to try to get Cam settled in there, sleeping well and eating while there, which has been terrific.

While I still have some slight disgruntledness (with myself) about not being able to take care of Cam and work fulltime, this does seem like a good situation for him; he's around other people and kids, and loves watching everything. Ironically, starting daycare coincided with a slowdown at work for me, so Cam is still doing half days and acclimating nicely. Mommy is too :)

We're racing towards his 5-month birthday and he's changing every day. This week he's been trying hard to pull his knees up under him, which we're positive he saw this at daycare and is trying to mimic one of the other kids crawling. He continues to like to stand up on his own, with us providing a little balance, and survey the world from this different perspective. Its only been a month, but he's almost completely outgrown most of the clothes Grammie sent for Christmas. Grandma sent stuff for 12 months+, which we'll be trying on soon - someone has quite the baby belly and needs some extra room in his pants :)

He's sleeping much better at night, about 7 hours at a stretch - woohoo! He loves loves loves the dogs and they sends him into fits of "banguage" when they come up to sniff him. We're trying to teach him "gentle" with them b/c he loves to grab their fur, which both Charlie and Chance have been incredibly patient with. They both seem to adore him too, Chance more than Charlie, but Charlie will come around once Cam starts solids, most of which we're sure will end up on the floor.

Cam's mastering the "Pfffft" or "Bfffft" and drooling like a fiend while doing so - this kid has things to say :) His hair is coming in nicely and he only has half of his previous "Friar Tuck" look going in the back of his head. Eyes are still blue, but we have time for them to turn green still - I am holding out hope! Not that blue aren't wonderful, but it would be nice for him to end up with mommy's green eyes and daddy's super long curly dark eyelashes - he'll be a ladykiller!!

Mister Twister

The last 2 nights when Kevin has gone in to get Cam for his 10:30pm bottle, he's found Cam sleeping at a 90° angle to where he started. This wouldn't be a problem if he *fit* on the width of the crib, but he doesn't!

After the party...

Cam fell asleep in daddy's arms, except for when mommy woke him up with the flash on the camera (it couldn't be helped, he looked freakin' adorable!). He's now sleeping peacefully and mommy and daddy are going to try to stay awake until 10:30 when we wake him up for his nightcap. Sleep well, all...we love ya!

Cam fell asleep on his own!

Cam was in his crib while I was putting away laundry and tidying up his room, when I popped out to the living room to chat w/Kevin about the dogs. Cam was happily chattering away to his ice cream truck and after about 5 minutes, I realized it was very quiet in there, so I called out to Cam "aaah ooooh" but he didn't say anything back. BECAUSE HE WAS ASLEEP IN HIS CRIB!!! This has never happened before! Curtain was open, room was bright, but he was zonked out, without mom and dad walking him around or any yelling at all :) Woohooo!!!!

7 hours last night!

Just a quick post to share Cam slept 7 hours last night - woohoo!! After our trip to SJ on Dec. 20, he reverted from the 2 nights of 8 hours he did to getting up twice a night and we've been slowly working our way back to this - 7 hours!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! Happy 5th of January to everyone :)

It's a Christmas miracle…

Cam slept from 10:30pm to 6:30am last night!! He did stir at 4am but only because he'd pushed his blankets off, so after tucking him back in, he started snoring away. WOW!!! Of course, we know its not a pattern until it happens 3 or more times in a row, but we are just enjoying that it happened at all :)

Holy guacamole!

Cam slept for 7 hours straight last night!!! We were floored!! And thrilled to get so much sleep in one go :)

We are paying the piper, though; Cam's been off so far today, very cranky. He refused to go down for his morning nap at all, despite lots of yawning and rubbing his eyes. Currently he's down for his lunchtime nap (was totally exhausted) and hopefully will be his typical happy self when he wakes up. Raining cats and dogs so no walk this afternoon but Auntie Sherry is visiting and he'll have fun playing with her.

But we had to share the 7 HOURS OF SLEEP AT NIGHT - woohooo!!!!!

I swore up and down Cam would never sleep in bed with us. I was wrong! Here he is lounging around. For some reason, he does sleep extra peacefully when in bed with us; doesn't thrash around as much as he does in his crib (he's trying hard to suck on his thumb but doesn't a) realize his hands are his and, b) know how to keep his thumb out without his fingers poking his eye! Ah, the travails of infant-hood :)
