Cam had his surgery this morning and did great :) He handled going off with the operating room nurse better than mommy and daddy (mommy couldn't watch), and did well until the anesthesiologist tried to put on the gas mask - luckily Cam liked the surgeon, who held him while they put the mask up to his face (not over at first) to get him to sleep. It really was a quick surgery, and Cam came out of the anesthesia like most kids - Dr. Mulotte likens it to an angry hornet. So true!
After about a half hour we were able to leave the surgery center and Cam was asleep in the car within a few minutes. We're home, C's had a bit to eat and will probably go down for his lunch nap a bit early today - he's pretty much himself, just a bit tired. The infection risk is only for the next 48 hours, so we'll keep a close eye on him. So far, so good!

Quack quack quack
Cam has fallen in love with this adorable book from Nanny Hines at our baby shower that shows pictures of animals and tells you the sounds he makes. When he hears the dogs barking in the neighbourhood (not OUR good dogs, lol), he points outside and says "oof oof". This weekend his favourite was "baa baa" for the sheep in the book. Completely doesn't go with the picture of him chewing on a duck but his smile was so cute, we had to post it :)
Caught!
....not doing anything bad, just surprised by the camera. Ever since we got the new camera, Cam is determined to not look at it, so he was caught off gaurd by Daddy when he was playing in his room this morning (C had gotten really quiet, which is usually reason for concern).

Yay Friday!
The Caminator just loves grownup sun glasses - mommy's are the best to share b/c they are $10 at Kohl's to replace, unlike Daddy's. :) Baby sunglasses with the strap around the back of the head - eh, not so in love with those.
Cam's trip to the doc to get his shots went pretty well. He got 3 shots; did ok w/the first one then knew what was coming for the other two and protested mightily. He was ok pretty quickly once he realized he had these funky Garfield bandaids on his legs, but he was pretty sore for most of the rest of the day, so we gave him Tylenol (no Motrin allowed until after his tube surgery on Tuesday).
Overall a really nice day at home for all of us (he took a great morning nap and a fantastic lunchtime nap so not cranky at all) and it wasn't even too hot around here; mid-90s. His right molars seems to be taking a break as he's been chowing like there is no tomorrow; for all 3 meals yesterday he ate 10oz+ baby foods plus some bread, brie, banana, puffs and yogurt drops...a bit of a bottomless pit. :)
Our weekend is pretty much going to be trying to avoid germs and get Cam (mommy and daddy too) lots of good naps to prep for his tube surgery on Tuesday at 8am in Pismo Beach...not the funnest weekend but since Cam is currently germ-free, we're going to enjoy it!
One Year Stats
27lbs 10oz - 94%
32" - 97%
19.75" head circumference = 100% (off the charts)
(Doc has kept a close eye on the big head circumference, but since big heads run in daddy's family, she doesn't feel C needs a CAT scan)
ps
If Cam's lower lip looks a bit fat, its because on Thursday at daycare he was playing outside when the girls tried to bring him in for his nap and he ran away laughing - until he tripped over something and fell flat on his face. He was ok, just bit his lip. Its healing nicely and should be fine in a week or so.

More teeth!
This will be tough to photograph, but Cam's got his top and bottom molars through on the left side. This kid has had ALL his teeth come through in sets of two. The right side is red on the top and bottom; looks like they'll be through any time now. Phew…these molars have been tough!
Tomorrow Cam has his appointment to get his annual shots - have to decide on doing the MMR or postponing it (going into the fall/winter season, the likelyhood of Cam getting sick from daycare is HIGH). There have been outbreaks of measles in CA :( Not sure what we'll do but we'll figure it out before we get there!

Grass is gross
Cam's walking is coming along quite well, but sometimes he overdoes it and ends up flat on his face. Totally typical for *any* little kid learning how to walk! Well, he's tripped on the grass in between the flagstones in the backyard several times, and now has a new method for traversing on the flagstones. With clapping in between :)

Morning snooze
The boys were up *early* this morning, and when I woke up (K had turned off the alarm and closed the door to the bedroom to let me sleep in, what a doll!) at 8:15am, the house was super quiet. I found them on the sofa in the family room. Too cute for words!

Ear tube surgery postponed
Just a quick note to let everyone know the ear tube surgery has been postponed to September 30. The ENT doc wanted Cam to be healthy and virus-free since this is elective surgery (yeah, right, only if he not in daycare for the next two weeks!!!) We have asked for the surgery to be sooner, as Cam seems to be getting ear infections every 5-7 weeks and that will put him right about getting another one, but they seem pretty firm on 9/30.
Cam is feeling much better than Tuesday and at daycare today for the first time since Monday. Fingers crossed he can get rid of this herpangina virus and get healthy so we can get his ears fixed!
ps
Cam had a GREAT day at daycare today; he slept 2hrs 20 mins total - way more than his usual 1hr 15-30 mins! We did give him a dose of Tylenol in his lunchtime bottle though, b/c of his sore throat....that might be why he slept so well. Eh, so what, he had a good day over there - yay!!

Ding-dong fever update
Cam's fever is finally gone; it WAS a pretty long night. We just got back from Cam's "Well Baby" check (ha!), and Cam has herpangina, a viral throat infection. Doc thinks he's at the beginning of it, and it should run its course within 5-7 days. He's sleeping peacefully right now for his lunchtime nap.
The ENT still wants to do the pre-op tomorrow and decide then on the Friday surgery for the tubes. Because of the fever yesterday, Cam's not allowed back to daycare until he's 24 hrs fever-free, which would be tomorrow. We'll probably keep him home since he sleeps so much better here and daycare is obviously just a damn germ-fest....ANOTHER sickness he has gotten from there (argh!!). If the ENT decides tomorrow to do the surgery Friday, we'll probably keep Cam home from daycare the rest of the week; we think he'll recouperate faster at home.
One Year Stats
27lbs 10oz
32"
19 3/4" head circumference
I'll add the percentages later - we forgot that paperwork at the doc's office.

The Ding-dong has a fever
I got a call from daycare today about 4:15pm, telling me Cam had a fever of 100.6°. Not horrible but he definitely was warm and not himself. He's sleeping comfortably now, due for another dose of Tylenol around 9pm and we're getting ourselves together for a long night.
Ironically tomorrow morning at 10am we have Cam's one year "Well Baby" check up (snort). Not sure he'll end up getting his shots, or if this will affect the tube surgery he's supposed to have on Friday but we'll let you know.
